Accreditation

In order to maintain accreditation status and continue to be recognized as a Bureau of Indian Education k-12 school, the LCO school completed an internal and external review from the Advanc-ed Accreditation Commission in the spring of 2015.  This process involved and extensive analysis of the programs and policies of the Lac Courte Oreilles school by the Leadership Team.  Work was begun in earnest in the fall of 2014, however the external review is part of an ongoing process that is aimed at continuous reflection and improvement at the school level.  The 4 person review team visited LCO in late April of 2015 and spent 3 days visiting classrooms, meeting with students and parents, and reviewing documents including policies, lesson plans, and procedures.  

 

In late June we received the official word that the LCO school has once again qualified for accreditation status which will remain in effect until the next review in 2020.  

 

The following recommendations were identified as improvement priorities to be addressed in the coming school year:

 

Development of a student data collection & management system

Development of a well defined scope and sequence

Development of a comprehensive school improvement plan focused on student achievement.

Development and implementation of mentoring, coaching and induction programs for new staff.
