Boozhoo parents and guardians
Our aim at the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe School is to provide a high quality academic education in a culturally supportive environment. Our teachers and support staff work tirelessly to design instruction and programming that best meets the needs of the students of LCO.
However as parents and guardians your influence over your child’s education is extremely important and cannot be understated. Research shows that “students tend to earn higher grades, have better attendance, are more motivated and less likely to drop out when their families are involved in their education (National Educational Association, 2015)”. In an effort to build a strong relationship between the school and families of the students at LCO, we will invite parents from one grade per week to join students in the cafeteria for lunch. On October 22nd, first parents are invited to join their students for free school lunch at 11:00 in the cafeteria. Please enter through the elementary school doors and sign-in in the cafeteria. We understand that obligations and responsibilities may prevent you from taking part in this opportunity, and assure you that there will be other options to come into the school to participate in school and classroom events in the future. We hope to see you there!
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Can you believe it, it’s almost Thanksgiving? The year is flying by and I’d like to take an opportunity to thank you for your continued support of the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe School, its mission, its students and staff.
Each month the school will recognize one classroom in grades k-5 that has consistently demonstrated safe, respectful, and responsible behaviors and has made academic progress as a group. The Classroom of the Month will be honored at weekly assemblies, will have a special lunch, and will receive individual and classroom certificates. Parents will be encouraged to attend a ceremony honoring the students and the classroom teacher for their hard work. Please encourage your son or daughter to remember and demonstrate the teachings found in our school mission of being peaceful, courageous and kind and to honor the aged, women, and promises. I look forward to celebrating your child’s success in the future!
